History: Poseidon was born, and then eaten by his father Kronos. He didn’t like this, in fact, he had hated it. He was second eldest, and was so in his father’s stomach for quite some time before all his other siblings except Zeus were consumed, and then barfed back up. They had all ran to Zeus and thanked their younger brother. Then they began the war. It was a long and strenuous one, but eventually, he himself, Zeus, and Hades were each awarded weapons of great power. Poseidon received his trident, Zeus his master lightning bolt, and Hades his Helm of Darkness. Together, they vanquished the Kronos, and sent him to Tartarus.
After a while, the three brothers decided they needed to decide who would be ruler of which place. So, they put in a piece of paper for three large areas. The Sky, the Ocean, and the Underworld. Zeus drew first and received the Sky, and the ruling of the gods along with it. Poseidon went next and drew the Ocean, leaving only Hades to draw the Underworld. Poseidon wasn’t too angry that he didn’t receive the sky and couldn’t rule the gods. He liked being second best, there wasn’t as much to govern, and he wasn’t under as much stress as his brother was. This pleased him. However, it annoyed him quite a bit that Zeus was always thinking that he or Hades wanted to steal the throne from him…Even it had happened once. But that was only once, and the main one in that whole deal was Hera, his wife.
After awhile, Poseidon decided to marry and married his beautiful wife Amphitrite, and had three lovely children with her. Triton, the oldest; Rhode, the second eldest; and Benthesikyme their youngest and their princess. Literally. Then again, so was Rhode. Just as Triton was the Prince of the Ocean.
Personality:Poseidon is the kind of god that is kind and generous to those that deserve it. Anyone else that he feels is unworthy of his help, doesn’t receive it. In fact, Poseidon has even killed mortals before for angering him so much. But that was when he was younger, and less wise. But then again, they were worshippers of Athena, and had called him despicable names. But, none the less, Poseidon is usually a kind enough guy. Poseidon is very respectful and protective of his children. Godly or not. He tries this best to make sure that harms way stays out of theirs.
